One of the applications were digital video has shown its great utility is in its use for teleconferencing. This was possible before with the use of television cameras and transmitters, but this was often expensive and impractical. Now with the internet and web cams, it is possible for this to be done extremely cheaply and conveniently, without any complicated fuss whatsoever. Now one can enjoy most of the benefits of face to face communication without actual physical contact. This would simply not be feasibly achievable on a regular basis with old analog technologies.
